Prolotherapy is the rehabilitation of an injured musculoskeletal structure (such as a tendon or ligament), induced proliferation of fibroblast cells and thus further reduce pain.
Ligaments and tendons are structures that make the bones that make up a joint, have a harmonic motion, without pain and wear. Over the years, they tend to become thinner as such as avascular (no nutrient artery that leads them), become thinner and less resilient, so that the joint no longer has a synchronous and harmonious movement, leading to the initiation wear in areas where there was no contact and pain occurs. When joint pain appears, however slight, is preceded a period without pain, but where if bone and cartilage wear. Thus when joint pain is already displayed bone damage that make up the joint.
When a ligament or tendon is injured, the body releases hormones called prostaglandins produced by the body, causing dilation of blood vessels, increasing blood flow which transported to the injured site as much oxygen as special cells in the immune system the damaged area, these cells called macrophages, monocytes and histiocytes are cells repair the injured area and will remove, among other things, the debris of damaged tissue.
A day or two after the initial injury, fibroblasts begin the stage of healing and the body forms new blood vessels, a process called angiogenesis. Of local cells and immune cells in the blood are fibroblasts, which are the “joiners” of the body, forming new collagen tissue, are the “bricks” used in the repair of ligaments and tendons.
The collagen fiber is responsible for providing force to the ligaments and tendons. The self-healing process can be re-evoked by the infiltration of substances with proliferative action thereby reducing or eliminating pain and inflammation while fibrous tissue forms and sign PERMANENT.
Basis of Prolotherapy
Ligaments are the primary stabilizers of the joints of the body, connecting the bones together and setting the limit of its range. Also, connect muscles to bones causing movement. The spine consists of bones, tendons, ligaments, discs and cartilage. And cartilage disks act as shock absorbers, preventing the bones rub together. In case of injury, ligaments and cartilage deteriorate, being unable to stabilize the joint. Then they start to fray. This wear causes further instability, resulting in constant pain, reduced mobility and lack of resistance.
Very important
Prolotherapy promotes the growth of strong and healthy tissue in a therapy clinic, the healing process takes about six weeks or so after the first treatment (session), such as tendons and ligaments are strengthened by this method, as a consequence are better able to perform their functions.
Prolotherapy is an extremely safe procedure. The risks are far less than taking aspirin and other drugs for life to temporarily alleviate chronic pain produces suffering from sciatica, spine or other diseases or surgery that fixes them 100%.
Prolotherapy has been used successfully for over 50 years for allopathic and osteopathic physicians. The term “prolotherapy” was first used by Dr. George S. Hacket in the 1950s. His is the sentence: “A joint is only as strong as the weakest of the ligaments.” Currently in the United States has only a handful of medical doctors and osteopaths using this therapeutic treatment, that number has gradually increased in recent years in all parts of the world.
