Surely you’ve ever heard of the healing potential of the saliva of dogs. At least for me, when I cut in more than one occasion I have received advice to give the wound a dog to lick me, advice which I obviously ignored, but always left me wondering if the saliva is actually capable to heal.
How much is truth and how much of a lie in this science does not know for sure, but it is known that saliva has some content of a chemical that could mean a reduced risk of infection.
In fact, when an injury occurs in the mouth heal five times faster than if the injury occurs elsewhere in the body. In addition, there will be no scar. This ability to heal is associated with saliva, and this justifies it as a healing agent. Read the rest of this entry »
