When menopause occurs, one of the main symptoms that generates happens on bone health. Some women’s bones become weaker, and is common in some cases begin to cause osteoporosis, a disease that damages the bones and generates a number of complications on the same.
Fortunately, some natural products are able to prevent the development of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women, according to the University of California-Davis one of the key players operating in it is soy, whose famous isoflavones may prevent osteoporosis.
His research involved giving a group of female patients a placebo for a period of time, while another group were given a soy isoflavone extract (80mg to 120 mg). While the effect of isoflavones was not overwhelming, the fact is that women in the second group experienced some improvement in relation to others.

Women with untreated celiac disease before the menopause come and have some risk of pregnancy complications. However, early diagnosis and strict diet would reverse that effect.
Celiac disease affects “the woman’s reproductive career,” said Shawky Badawy, director of obstetrics and gynecology at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York. “It’s very interesting to see how it improves the reproductive function of patients with early diagnosis and gluten-free diet,” Badawy said, unaware of the study.
In people with celiac disease (1 percent of Americans), the immune system reacts to a protein called gluten, found in wheat, oats and rye. Foods with gluten damages the small intestine and inhibits the absorption of nutrients.
The study authors, led by Dr. Carolina Ciacci, Federico II University of Naples, Italy, attributed to nutritional deficiencies and the decline of certain hormones in women with celiac disease the progress observed in the arrival of menopause. Read the rest of this entry »
